Reminder

A friend sent us this verse the other night. It is one I have heard and read many times but I think it's important to remember. I am not ashamed to speak about what I believe in. I wanted to share it on my blog as an encouragement to those who are walking in Christ. If this post offends you, no comment is necessary, simply show yourself to the blog "door". This verse is a reminder to myself as much as anyone to deny myself daily.
Luke 9:23-26
Then he said to them all: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

  1. sounds like justifying being unhappy.

chicken or the egg? sadness or the religion?

if you don't like this comment, then don't blog. otherwise youre just fishing for people who agree with you and praise you. vanity is a sin too you know.

  2. I am happier than I've ever been. None of that happiness has come from worldly things but from spiritual blessings. I am not fishing for agreement. I just don't want a bunch of pointless arguing about religion. If you don't like my blog, then don't read it. I started this for friends and family members anyway.

  4. Jenna, I completely agree with you. I could talk forever about my ever-growing relationship with God! It seems so many people want to pick and choose elements that are convenient to them. Living for God is hardly such. This verse really hits home for me because lately I have been struggling with worldly vs. spiritual gifts and concepts.

  5. PS: do you keep a prayer journal?

  6. I don't understand some of you people that are commenting on these posts. You should know by now that Josh and Jenna are openly religious, so if you don't like it or agree with it, why do you read her posts? And why should she have to get a facebook? the whole point of a blog is to post about things that you like, or feel strongly about. Religion is a big part of Jenna's life, so who are you to tell her she shouldn't blog about it. If you don't like it, stop following/reasing her blogs. It's just that SIMPLE

  7. Thanks for posting this Jenna :) I can never remind myself of this often enough.

Commenters, you are off your rocker... blogs are about posting what you care about. I post things like this all the time as do many other blogs I follow. Get a grip.

  9. Jenna, I would just make another blog and just make sure only really friends and family see it. I'm sure you didn't want this blog to get out, but people are crazy and will do anything, and maybe now that things have died down people won't be so crazy to try to find your blog. People are going to attack you no matter what, because they're stupid, pissed off Paramore fans who have nothing better to do with their lives. It's sad that they would attack someone that they don't even know, but you know, that's just how rude people are. It really sucks and I'm sorry you have to go through that.

Though good blog post, I'm not religious, but I really enjoyed it. :)

  10. Jasmin - don't worry, you won't die if you don't believe in Christ. Some people just choose to believe the words of an old relic that was written thousands of years ago. That is their choice. Make your own.

  12. I can relate to that verse. Like you, I've always read that verse and always hear it.and now I've been reminded again. Sometimes we get so caught up with our busy lives and we tend to forget what's really important. We forget our real purpose. Sometimes we get so attached to the things here in the world well, in fact they won't last forever. They are just temporary and will fade away.

It's for us to FOCUS on what is more important. Focus our eyes to the ONE that really matters.

LOOK UP. :) God is good.

I like this part. I'm not Christian, but I respect others who find faith - wherever they find it - because I think it's important. I love that you find strength in your beliefs. Ignore the haters...

  15. Obviously im not dead am I?

If you werent joshs wife not one would be bugging you, the only reason people read or comment one this blog is because your married to josh they are just Paramore fans and they want to heart about him.
Just be lucky that you dont live in Los Angeles, California or you wouldnt even want to be married to him.
    Get Over yourself please.

  18. Thanks Jenna.
    I definitely needed this reminder.
I am in two worlds right now.
I know a lot of people can relate.
I'm so lost at the moment, but I know Jesus is there.
I can't seem to put together my God world and the real world.
I just got back from a "Radiate" retreat.
    It's hard coming back.
    But thanks for the reminder!
