Make your own natural shampoo

I use organic shampoo and conditioner, but I have been wanting to make my own! First of all, it's much cheaper! Secondly, generic hair washes contain chemicals that strip your hair of it's natural oils. I prefer using products with ingredients I can pronounce. Your hair becomes dependent on washing too frequently to keep it from becoming greasy. Making your own natural shampoo will make your hair healthier than ever within a few weeks. It may take some time for your scalp to become accustomed to the new routine. You may experience some excess oils at first.

* It is safe for color-treated hair too.

* The wash, rinse and REPEAT direction on shampoo bottles is on there to sell more shampoo. It is not necessary to repeat. In fact, overly rinsing and repeating can cause frizzies.

  • Knead a few tablespoons of olive oil into your dry scalp and hair. Swathe your oiled-up curls with a shower cap and take a thirty minute breather...snooze, toss back a latté, whatever. Then just shampoo as usual.
  • Every night, rub your scalp and massage your mane with a solution of 50/50 distilled white vinegar and water. This homemade "hair-product-residue remover" leaves behind the glistening, polished locks you've always dreamed of.
  • And for the simplest of shampoo replacements, combine one tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of water -- remembering that this isn't going to look or feel like any shampoo you're accustomed to. Think of it more like a shamp-paste. There won't be mountains of foamy bubbles (you get those in commercial products because of the chemicals added to get all that lather). Work the paste through your hair and rinse thoroughly, for unexpectedly clean and remarkably shiny hair.

  2. I love making homemade hair treatments, thanks for this one! If only there was more time in the day.

One I like to use is an egg white/rosemary solution: http://www.ehow.com/how_2088997_egg-white-hair-conditioner.html Just in case you want to try it. Egg whites are also good for cleansing the face!

My friend got me some for Christmas.
They make there own shampoo, body wash, skincare things etc.
And they have this cool thing called Solid Shampoo.
It looks like a round colored bar of soap, but it's shampoo.
    Lasts up to 60 washes.
    It's cool and all handmade.
They list every single ingredient they use.
    It's pretty cool!
